Angela Rai: Profile

Training and experience

Dr Angela Rai qualified in medicine at Guy's, King's and St Thomas' Medical School, London in 1999. A member of the Royal College of General Practitioners, she also has a BSc in Psychology and holds Postgraduate Diplomas in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Child Health and Cardiology. Whilst working in the private sector, she also had the opportunity to train in Occupational Medicine.

Dr Rai has experience of a wide variety of healthcare settings, including London teaching hospitals and private practices. She has worked in corporate medicine and, prior to joining the The London General Practice in 2012, was a partner at an NHS practice.

Women's health

The London General Practice provides services covering the full range of women's health issues including menstrual cycle problems, contraception, conception, pregnancy and childbirth, sexual health and menopause. From teenagers with acne to menopausal women experiencing hot flushes, they provide physical, mental and emotional support, medical treatments and evidence-based advice.

Preventative medicine is also an important feature of the women's programme at The London General Practice. In addition to the usual health screening tests for women, the Practice is able to offer some not routinely available or easy to access on the NHS such as BRCA1 and BRCA2 genetic screening and the CA125 test for ovarian cancer.

Occupational health

The London General Practice works with corporate clients to provide preventative healthcare, occupational health services and healthcare screening for employees, maximising health and productivity. They have particular expertise in providing bespoke medical services to the entertainment industry, music industry, insurers, concert promoters and production companies.

Clinical interests

Dr Rai's clinical interests are women's health, paediatrics and occupational medicine. She adopts a preventative approach to healthcare and is a strong advocate for the role of lifestyle management and nutrition in the maintenance of good health.
