Cataract surgery is a procedure to address severe symptoms of cataract formation in the lens of the eyes. Eye surgery is performed under local anaesthesia by an Ophthalmologist where a small incision is made in the eye to remove the affected lens and then replace it with a new one artificial one. This new lens is called an intraocular implant. Surgery takes a few hours and afterwards the patient may be able to go home. The surgeon will recommend rest and prescribe medication.
