Mr Kesava Reddy Mannur is a leading Harley Street obesity surgeon offering the full range of surgical weight loss treatments, including gastric bypass, duodenal switch, gastric banding sleeve gastrectomy and gastric band, and revisional surgeries for weight regain – gastric band to bypass/sleeve, Fobi/Minimizer ring to gastric bypass, lengthening of the limbs in gastric bypass and duodenal switch, gastric bypass to DS, or for nutritional or hypoglycaemia problems – gastric bypass reversal to normal anatomy. A skilled laparoscopic, general and upper GI surgeon, he also offers a range of surgical procedures for conditions such as hernia, gastro-oesophageal reflux and gallstones.

Training and experience

Mr Kesava Reddy Mannur is an experienced Upper GI surgeon who has been performing advanced laparoscopic surgery since 1990 and obesity surgery/weight loss surgery since 1998. He is Director of Bariatric Surgery at the Homerton University Hospital and has been conducting training courses and symposiums in bariatric surgery both in the UK and India since 2004. Mr Mannur has performed about 3000 weight loss surgeries to date.

Mr Mannur trained in surgery in Cardiff, Stevenage, and at the Royal London and Middlesex Hospitals. He has been a consultant surgeon for 17 years. From 1991 to 1993, Mr Mannur developed laparoscopic surgery with Mr Oliver McAnena at the Royal London Hospital. Since 1994, he has conducted many courses in laparoscopic surgery in India, and since 2004 has been conducting training courses and symposiums in bariatric surgery both in the UK and India.

Mr Mannur improved his techniques in obesity surgery by working with Professor Cardiere in Belgium, Dr Hendrix in Antwerp, Professor Michelle Gagner in New York and Dr Kelvin Higa in Fresno, California. He demonstrated the first laparoscopic gastric band in Chennai in Jan 2004 and since then has been conducting bariatric courses and symposiums in India and Homerton, London. He performs 10-15 obesity surgery operations a week.

In the past, Mr Mannur has performed laparoscopic gastrectomy and oesophagectomy for cancers and frequently helped Urologists and Gynaecologists to perform nephrectomy and hysterectomy respectively.

Clinical interests

Mr Mannur's main clinical interest is obesity surgery, especially revisional surgery. He is also interested in the development of new techniques and changes in laparoscopic surgery to facilitate bariatric surgery. Mr Mannur has been working on scarless surgery and endoscopic surgery /NOTES for a number of years. His other interests are fundoplication for heartburn/gastro-oesophageal reflux, cholecystectomy and hernia repair. He has  presented his work in numerous conferences and also published several peer reviewed papers.
