Hospitals and clinics providing Varicose veins - surgery (both legs)

Varicose veins are managed with surgical procedures if endothermal ablation and sclerotherapy fail to relieve the symptoms. The most common technique is called ligation and stripping. This vascular surgery is carried out under general anaesthetic by a general surgeon. A small incision is made at the top of the varicose vein, usually in the groin. Another small cut is made near the knee or ankle. The top of the varicose vein at the groin is tied and sealed. A thin, flexible wire is passed through the bottom of the vein and then carefully pulled out and removed through the lower cut in your leg. This procedure can cause pain, bruising and bleeding. Serious complications are nerve damage and deep vein thrombosis.
