Other symptoms associated with sore throat are fever, chills, fatigue, coughing, sneezing and a runny nose. Most sore throats subside within 3 to 7 days without treatment. Treatment is symptomatic with paracetamol and ibuprofen to relieve pain and fever. Antibiotics are usually not prescribed for a mild to moderate sore throat.
