CT scan - 1 body part at The Cardiovascular Health Clinic
Computed Tomography scans use a large number of x-rays to produce a three dimensional image of the internal structures of the body. This technique is diagnostic, allowing doctors to diagnose and monitor a variety of conditions from tumours to internal injury. Scans tend to be out-patient procedures, though the results will have to be analysed by a radiologist before they can be passed on to the referring doctor, which can take several days.
