A squint (also called strabismus)is a condition in which the eyes are malaligned, e.g. they do not point in the same direction. A squint should be corrected as soon as possible. Several treatment options are available, such as glasses, eye exercises, botulinum toxin injections and corrective surgery. Corrective surgery is recommended if other options have failed. Surgery involves changing the position of the muscles attached to the outside of the eye. Possible risks are double vision, recurrence, infection and impairment of the eye movement.
