Occupational asthma is a condition where there is a limited airflow to the lungs due to hypersensitivity of the immune system, usually caused by working in a hazardous environment. There are two categories of this condition: hypersensitivity-induced and irritant- induced occupational asthma. The earlier form is the most common with about 90% of all cases. Asthma symptoms happen while the person is at work and diminish when away from the the hazardous environment.
