Gamma knife 'surgery' is radiosurgery which uses radiation beams that can focus precisely on the tumour. Gamma knife is not 'surgery' at all, and is a non-invasive procedure, which is mainly used on the brain, head and neck. Because it is non-invasive, recovery, healthy tissue damage and side-effects are also very much reduced. It is often used on patients for whom conventional surgery is not possible.
