Hospitals and clinics providing Endometrial ablation

Womb (uterus) lining is removed by a surgical procedure known as endometrial ablation. A hysteroscope is passed into the uterus via the vagina and cervix and other surgical instruments are then passed down the hysteroscope to destroy your endometrium. The two types of endometrial ablation are microwave ablation and thermal balloon ablation. In the microwave ablation, a probe is inserted into the uterus via the hysteroscope. The probe uses microwave energy to heat and destroy the womb lining (endometrium). In a thermal balloon ablation, an inflated balloon is passed through the hysteroscope and into the uterus, which heats and destroys the endometrium. Post-operative bleeding is a common side effect. The procedure is carried out under general anaesthesia.
