In Dupuytren’s contracture, one or more fingers of the hands bend towards the palm. Connective tissues along the palm thicken until a non-cancerous nodule develops under the layers of the skin of the palm. Over time, nodes could form cords made of connective tissue and these pull the fingers towards the palm. The condition could be painless but could worsen after quite some time. Surgical release of the cords of connective tissue is usually recommended.
