This is the most common cancer in women. It usually presents as a lump in the breast. There may be pain, discharge from the nipple, reddened skin and destruction or enlargement of the breast if the condition is severe. Women over 50 years of age, those with family members having the same disease, those who are childless, have never breastfed, have been exposed to radiation to the chest, started their periods earlier than usual and who consume excessive alcohol are the ones who are most likely to develop cancer. The condition can be treated by an oncologist or a breast surgeon.
