Bladder examination by camera, or cystoscopy, is a diagnostic procedure using a fiberoptic camera, which allows the urology specialist to view the bladder from the inside. The camera is inserted through an incision just under the navel to access the bladder. The camera is connected to a video monitor via a cable so that the examiner can easily check for an abnormal growth, stone formation, bleeding and cancer. Other methods of examinining the bladder include a CT, MRI or ultrasound scan.
