Hospitals and clinics treating Ankle fracture

The most common cause of ankle fracture is excessive inversion of the foot such as an inward movement of the foot so that that the sole faces in the opposite direction. The nerve and blood supply of the foot may be compromised because of sharp fracture fragments. Usually older age groups are affected because of weaker bones which predispose them to an inability to absorb uneven ground. For minor cases the ankle joint is immobilized in a splint (contraption used to keep a joint in fixed position), and for major cases, such as a neurovascular injury, appropriate surgery is indicated.
