Such abnormal proteins are called ‘amyloids’. In many cases such abnormality co-exists with other diseases like Alzheimer’s and multiple myelomas. Symptoms depend on the organ(s) affected. Kidney, heart, liver or peripheral nerves (those which are situated in the limbs) can be affected by this disease.
