Myelodysplastic syndrome is a blood disorder that does not produce enough healthy blood cells. Insufficient blood cells are produced in the bone marrow and and this deficiency can affect some or all cells: white cells, red cells as well as platelets. Myelodysplasia may be due to exposure to radiation, organic solvents and benzenes.
