"I suffered from acid reflux and gerd symptoms daily, every aspect of my life was curtailed for well over 8 years. An operation performed by Mr Hashemi 28th February 2019, 7 weeks ago for hiatus hernia and partial fundoplication, was the best decision I ever made and has given me a new lease of life. No more rennie, gaviscon omeprazole, lanzarprazole etc etc etc (tried them all), no more restricting what i could consume, had fresh orange juice lately no bad effects, fantastic, thrown out all my medication, can't recommend it enough."
Hiatus hernia and partial fundoplication, February 2019
"Mr Hashemi was recommended to me by my GP. He confirmed a diagnosis of a hernia. He explained lucidly the options available and the pros and cons of each option. He came to see me on the morning of the operation to repair the hernia and went through in detail what would happen. He visited me when I came out of the anaesthetic and told me everything had gone smoothly. On his recommendation I spent one night following the operation in hospital. The recovery was easier than anticipated. I would be happy to recommend him to anyone requiring a similar procedure."
Inguinal hernia repair, January 2019
"Mr Majid Hashemi operated on me for an inguinal hernia in October 2018. The procedure took place exactly a week after the first consultation (and could have been done even quicker were it not for the fact that I take anticoagulants for an unrelated condition and had to come off these for five days before surgery). Mr Hashemi's secretary/PA made the relevant arrangements most efficiently. Throughout the process Mr Hashemi acted in a totally professional and friendly manner, keeping me and my wife fully informed at every stage. The operation was wholly successful and I was signed off by Mr Hashemi at a follow-up consultation ten days after the operation. I am now fully recovered and pain free."

"I am very happy to recommend Mr Hashemi and his practice at the Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth. I had a femoral hernia repair and from my initial call to the hospital through to the discharge I experienced exceptional treatment. Mr Hashemi saw me within days of my call and operated one week alter. He was at all times personable, professional, reassuring and efficient and he answered all my questions in deal, with good humour! He responsed to yet more questions by email via his lovely, and highly organised, PA Sofia, and my operation went smoothly. He took care to write to my GP suggesting further action on another unrelated matter, and I liked his association with the hospital because of its charitable work."

"Normally holidays are a heartburn nightmare for me what with eating rich food and eating later, but this time how wonderful it is to have a good nights sleep without horrible acid and pain"
"I can confirm I am very pleased with the outcome of a non routine and difficult hernia procedure which Mr Hashemite carried out expeditiously ."
Inguinal hernia repair, July 2018
"Mr Hashemi is a wonderful consultant, he explains everything clearly and involves you in decision making. He takes the time to get to understand all your symptoms and their impact on your life. I felt very well looked after under his care and had a problem free and speedy recovery after my hiatus hernia repair and full wrap. I am now completely symptom free and off the PPIs. His secretary, Sofia is also fantastic. She keeps you informed and responds quickly to questions. I would highly recommend Mr Hashemi."

"A very kind and understanding doctor. I highly recommend him. His PA Sophie is a treasure."
We would like to thank Dr Majid Hashemi for everything he has done for us. My husband was diagnosed with stomach cancer last year and throughout this whole difficult time he has been very supportive and caring. From the very beginning Dr Hashemi had faith and determination that he could help my husband and was willing to do anything he could do in his power to help him beat this horrible disease. I am so grateful that my husband was cared for by such an experienced and amazing doctor and my family and myself can’t thank him enough for giving him a second chance.
Stomach cancer, June 2018
“Mr Hashemi has a wonderful honest manner He explained the 2 surgeries needed and the side effects in detail.
He visited me before and after each surgery I am one week post -op and feeling great I would highly recommend If you are thinking of having this surgery - do it with a professionally experienced surgeon like Mr Hashemi. I would highly recommend. His PA Sophie is also wonderful."
Lap band to Sleeve revision surgery, June 2018
"After 10-12 years suffering with severe acid reflux with a hiatus hernia and GERD I had to look for another option other than being on medication for the rest of my life. I did research regarding different surgeons that carry out this procedure, Mr Hashemi has been carrying out these procedures for a number of years and has a lot of experience with dealing with patients with this disease. I was very sceptical about having the fundoplication as the reviews I have read online were mostly negative I do not know what I was worried about. I am now 12 days post op on solid foods that are going down with no issues at all, and most importantly I'm 100% heart burn free! I would highly recommend anyone with the same issues as me to go and see Dr Hashemi and listen to his advice as he is extrmely knowledgable and a fantastic surgeon. I've recieved gold star service with him and would do it all over again in a heart beat if I had to. Also I would like to add that his P.A. Sofia was extremely helpful and always made sure I was kept in the loop and knew what was going on. Fantastic hospital service and everyone including the staff made sure my stay was comfortable.

Mr Majid Hashemi is a “Fine Surgeon and Gentleman” “He saved my life and I am so grateful to him and his team at UCH London” I feel as good now as I did before I had the cancer”
“Mr Majid Hashemi and his team’s care is completely seamless, well explained and transparent. His results are amazing, and we were consulted at all stages of care, pre op, op and post op as well as follow up. I recommend him unreservedly”
I have had a Hiatus Hernia for the past 20 years which has been controlled by medications such as PPI's. However this winter I caught a virulent virus which resulted in a severe cough which lasted several weeks. The outcome being that this caused my hernia to become vey large with painful symptoms. When I was told that I would have to have surgery to fix the problem I then went about finding the best and most highly qualified and experienced surgeon . My research bought up Mr Hashemi. I has a consultation with him, he explained all of the pros and cons with regard to the operation and he also offered me the LINX system as he thought it would be very beneficial for the long term outcome. I had my operation three weeks ago and had the LINX fitted. Post operative I have had no reflux, no problems swallowing and no indigestion. Most importantly no need for any medication. I have had next to no pain which I believe is down to the skill of Mr Hashemi. The other reassuring fact is that I know that I can contact him directly if I have any concerns regarding my recovery. I would highly recommend Mr Hashemi. I chose the clinic as that is where Mr Hashemi was operating. The clinic was very efficient and professional
Laparoscopic hiatus hernia repair with a LINX implant, February 2017
"I have been under the care of Mr Majid Hashemi for over a year. I was suffering from severe acid reflux. Mr Hashemi carefully took me through the alternative treatments available to me - the advantages and the disadvantages. We agreed to go for the Linx system. Mr Hashemi is one of the pioneers of this l particular method. Well I have to report that the symptoms improved immediately and while there has been occasional discomfort it had all been signalled to me well in advance, so I have been prepared. I would be happy to recommend Mr Hashemi who is the consummate professional in his field. On occasions when I have needed quick advice he has always been available by phone or in person. One cannot ask for more. I would be very happy to recommend Mr Hashemi. Very professional

I had surgery 4 years ago under Mr Majid Hashemi and could not have wished for a better Consultant. He was clear, kind and understanding and took time to explain everything thoroughly including any possible alternatives to surgery. He created an atmosphere of trust and confidence and I would not hesitate to recommend him.
It seems impossible that nearly two years have gone since my gastric by-pass and it is eighteen months since our last consultation. I wanted to let you know how I am progressing and since it is all good, please feel free to pass this email to anyone who is considering having this miraculous, live-saving procedure. Firstly my diabetes, angina and high blood pressure all so much better as to be negligible. My German GP has me on two Metformin (500mg) per day, morning and evening (whereas before I was on six 800mg tablets per day plus three Glicazide). This keeps my blood sugars in the low 6.0s. I take on Simvastatin (10mg) in the evening and a baby aspirin daily. No medication for my blood pressure is required. My weight went as low as 57kg but now has stabilized around 62kg which feels about right. My scars have disappeared and the skin has tightened up nicely. I have had no side effect beyond nausea for which I consulted you about in May 2012. That disappeared and has not returned. I can eat anything I want, including sweets in moderation. I can drink a glass or two of wine but not on an empty stomach. I have no indigestion, acid reflux or pain of any kind. I cannot tell you how wonderful the last two years have been. I feel so well and frankly, so young! I can walk for ours around the beautiful little city, Bamberg where we have settled. I can hike up into the hills and then back to our house. I can shop till I drop! Yes I admit to a renewed interest in fashion, a bit shallow I know and that is not why I had the operation but it is certainly a plus. I am so very grateful to you for your care and skill. And the wonderful nursing staff at the Wellington Hospital. I know there are people who suffer terrible problems and side –effects from this procedure, about which the Daily Mail loves to publish horrific articles. I can only speak of my own experience which has been, as I have said miraculous. Thank you again and very best wishes
I recently had the misfortune to be diagnosed with a huge hiatus hernia that should have been treated 6 years ago. But I was so lucky to be seen by Mr. Majid Hashemi at UCH, who saved my life twice in 3 days. I was in HDU care in the Hospital of St. John and St. Elizabeth for over 2 weeks and was then moved to St.Francis Ward. Mr. Hashemi's medical skills cannot be doubted, as I continually heard from all his colleagues who were also taking care of me. But I am writing about his caring, kindness and compassion and his devotion to my welfare since the first time I met him. During the 3 weeks in hospital, I was visited by him or one of his colleagues every 2 or 3 hours, night and day. He was also very kind to all my visitors and continually asked them if they had any questions, which is quite unusual. I don't have very good insurance coverage, and Mr. Hashemi has also waived his fees for ongoing consultations which I find quite extraordinary and extremely kind. I cannot praise Mr. Hashemi enough and if there is anything I can do to include this recommendation on his records, I would be more than happy to do so.

" During my stay at Wellington hospital I had a great experience and I felt really comfortable being treated by Mr Hashemi. He did not make me feel stressed and uncomfortable to ask him anything. I knew he would always be there if I needed him for something and I felt secure because I felt that he had my best interest at heart. "

I was not looking forward to my inguinal hernia operation, having had a hiatus hernia about 30 years ago. All the arrangements were made by Mr Hashemi’s charming and helpful secretary, Sofia, including organising my taxi return home at the end of the operation. Mr Hashemi was a pleasure to talk to and I was impressed that he did not give me over optimistic advice on post operative activities. I could do my walking tours after 2 weeks and also drive a car then. This I did without a problem although I did get very tired doing tours until after a month. Now I am almost fighting fit after 5 weeks. His advice not to play tennis for 12 weeks I did not like but my wife insisted I follow it so I am looking forward to that still. I suspect I will cheat! Altogether Mr Hashemi and Sofia made this an almost pleasant experience.
Inguinal hernia repair, August 2016
"Mr Hashemi had previously operated on my elderly father in an emergency situation and at the time, being a family under huge pressure and stress over my father’s medical situation, as soon as Mr Hashemi walked into the hospital room, we knew we were in the best hands.
When I was considering surgery the following year, there was no other surgeon I would ever have approached. Were it not for my confidence in Mr Hashemi I know that I would never have voluntarily considered undertaking any procedure to improve my own health.
Mr Hashemi is an excellent and extremely skilled surgeon.
His casual, relaxed yet highly professional manner inspire confidence from the moment you meet him.
He explains the procedure and its impact very clearly and has the patience to address all your concerns to ultimately allow you to make the right decision, gently coaxing you towards the best solution.
My family hold Mr Hashemi in the highest esteem and we would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone in need of his incredible skills."
Lap Repair of Giant Incarcerated Hiatus Hernia with Gastric Volvulus, June 2016
“I was recommended to Majid Hashemi by my private GP. I had a very reassuring meeting with him and subsequently went back to see him to establish some facts that I had previously omitted to discuss with him. As I was about to embark upon a laparoscopic gastric bypass, I was naturally very concerned about what would happen to me both during the operation and also how I would progress afterwards. At all times my mind was put at rest. My progress since the operation has been no less than extraordinarily good! I have lost 15 Kilos in under 3 months and I look and feel much better. Other arthritic pains have reduced because of my weight loss. Finally, I felt that Mr Hashemi did not approach me as just another patient.”
Sleeve gastrectomy, 20/06/2016
I would like to take this opportunity to express my views on the excellent and professional treatment I received at the hands of Mr Majid Hashemi. He was nothing but compassionate, understanding and sympathetic, and able to come to immediate decisions without wasting my time. I had spent two years being miss-diagnosed by a variety of doctors until luck brought me into the hands of Mr Hashemi who solved the problem in a matter of weeks which was a Hiatal Hernia. I am back to my old self again. Thank you.

"In being referred to Mr Hashemi I had a consultation and was investigated within a week. Mr Hashemi was professional and thoroughly went through my history to offer the right solution. He was approachable and more importantly did not use over technical wording so I fully understood what the examination was for.
I would recommend Mr Hashemi and his team to anyone with upper or lower bowel conditions and can honestly say you will be in safe hands."

I first met Mr H 5 years ago to see if I could have some sort of weight loss surgery. On meeting him he made me feel relaxed and confident that he could help me. After a few necessary safety tests Mr Hashemi operated on me with a full bypass. After the surgery he took great care of me for my diet and emotional well being. I continued to see his dieticians and Mr Hashemi for a few months and found the result of the surgery amazing. I look forward to my yearly meetings to show Mr Hashemi he did an amazing job for me. I now eat a healthy diet and feel really well 5 years on. Mr Hashemi and his team are the most caring I know in the medical world and would not hesitate to recommend him.
Laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery, 5/10/2015
In my experience Mr Majid Hashemi is an extremely skilled consultant surgeon who takes the greatest care with his patients. Always courteous and polite, he listens to them and takes the trouble to identify, investigate and sort out potential problems prior to surgery. He is always willing to discuss the situation and advise as to the best way forward. I am indebted to him for the care he took with the procedure I needed recently – a laparoscopic repair of a giant incarcerated hiatus hernia and fundoplication. His skill has ensured that the outcome is even more successful than I could have anticipated. A very satisfied patient.

Thank you for your exceptional way you have looked after us over the last few days. Although we only met you a few weeks ago, your kind and caring personality made us fee that we had known you for many years.
In short I have lost over 50kg, I now weigh 72kg (as you said I would) from an initial weight of 124kg on the day of the operation. I am very happy now with the way I look and feel great form the health perspective. Blood pressure is down, Cholesterol is down. I cannot thank you enough for the change and transformation which has been the result of the operation I had last year.
