Natalie Phillips: Profile

Dr Natalie Phillips is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatobiliary Physician at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. She provides private assessment and treatment for general gastroenterology and hepato-pancreatobiliary conditions at The London Clinic and London Digestive Centre in the Harley Street Medical District, and at the Sainsbury Wing at Hammersmith Hospital.

Training and experience

Dr Phillips qualified from Guys, Kings and St Thomas’ Medical School in 2003 and undertook her postgraduate training in London, gaining Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP). Following her specialist gastroenterology training on the North West Thames rotation, in 2012 she completed an International Fellowship in ERCP/EUS at Royal Northshore Hospital in Sydney, Australia.

Dr Phillips was a post CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) fellow at the Hammersmith Hospital for a year, before taking up her post as a Consultant Gastroenterologist in 2016. She completed her Masters in Translational Medicine at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in 2017.

Dr Phillips performs diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures, and has completed specialist training in interventional endoscopy. She is endoscopy training lead for Hammersmith Hospital, responsible for the training of both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Her areas of expertise include the endoscopic diagnosis and management of chronic pancreatitis, and the medical management of gastroenterological diseases such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), coeliac disease, pancreatic cancer, cholangiocarcinoma, bile salt malabsorption and biliary stone disease. She also has an expertise in the diagnosis of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and bowel cancer.

Dr Phillips an accredited endoscopist and has specialist training in interventional endoscopy. She performs diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, stenting (oesophageal, duodenal and colonic), ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography) and EUS (Endoscopic ultrasound).
