Professor Hesham Saleh: Profile

 

Professor Hesham Saleh MBBCh, FRCS, FRCS (ORL-HNS) is a Consultant Rhinologist, Facial Plastic and ENT Surgeon at Charing Cross Hospital and Royal Brompton Hospital in London. He is also Professor of Practice in Rhinology at the Imperial College London and President of the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery​.

With a specialist interest in conditions affecting the nose and sinuses, Professor Saleh provides private treatment for conditions such as allergies, sinusitis, problems with smell, nasal tumours and nose bleeds. He also offers nose reshaping surgery to improve the appearance of the nose, correct any damage following trauma, or improve nasal function and breathing.

Training and experience

Professor Saleh trained in ENT surgery at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, The Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital and Charing Cross Hospital in London. He obtained his FRCS (ENT) in 1995 and FRCS (ORL-HNS) in 1999. In addition to being a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, he is also a Board-certified Facial Plastic Surgeon and obtained the Claus D. Walter Award for Highest International Score on IBCFPRS examination. Professor Saleh became a Fellow of the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery at Amsterdam Medical Centre, Holland in 2001. He was also a visiting fellow to centres of expertise in rhinology and facial plastic surgery in the USA.

A leading figure in both sinus surgery and rhinoplasty, both cosmetic and functional, Professor Saleh runs the Rhinology Clinics at Charing Cross Hospital and the combined nose clinic at the Royal Brompton Hospital. He provides private treatment for problems affecting the nose and sinuses at a state-of-the-art clinic at 120 Harley Street, London Monday to Friday.

Cost for initial Rheinoplasty consultation is £300
Regular consultation fee is £250 + cost of examinations
Cost of all follow up fees: £180 + cost of examinations

Clinical interests

Professor Saleh specialises in the nose and the conditions related to it. His areas of expertise include rhinoplasty (both functional and cosmetic) nasal allergy, endoscopic sinus surgery, endoscopic lacrimal (tear duct) surgery, endoscopic orbital decompression, endoscopic repair of CSF leak and endoscopic anterior skull base surgery.

Research interests

Professor Saleh has been the Imperial College ENT course director for undergraduate students. He is the Past President for the Section of Laryngology and Rhinology in the Royal Society of Medicine and holder of the W. J. Harrison Award for the greatest contribution towards advancement of knowledge in the section. He is also the President of the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery (EAFPS) and Past President of the British Society of Facial Plastic Surgery (BSFPS), and an elected council member for the British Rhinological Society (BRS). He organises national post-graduate courses (for ENT and consultants from other specialities) on cosmetic rhinoplasty, lacrimal surgery, sinus and extended skull base surgery. He is also regularly invited as an international expert in rhinoplasty and rhinology in conferences worldwide. Professor Saleh has published more than 120 peer reviewed articles and several book chapters on rhinoplasty and rhinology.
