Training and experience

Mr Aziz graduated from University College London in 2005 with degrees in medicine and Medical Physics & Bioengineering.  He was awarded the Fitton Prize during his studies at UCL.

Following initial training in General Surgery and Vascular Surgery, Mr Aziz undertook his specialist training in Oculoplastics and Ophthalmology in London, including a fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital and additional orbital surgery training at the Maxillofacial Department at Northwick Park Hospital.

Mr Aziz is currently a full-time Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Western Eye Hospital and Charing Cross Hospital in London, where he specialises in cataract surgery, eyelid surgery, oculoplastics, and lacrimal and orbital disease. He is the clinical lead for high volume cataract surgery, laser and team transformation and recently established a one-stop cataract clinic designed to streamline patient care.

Mr Aziz is a member of the Facial Reconstruction service at Imperial College NHS Trust and works on multidisciplinary teams specialising in thyroid eye disease, pituitary tumours, skull base pathology and head and neck cancer. He performs complex orbital apex surgery and anterior base procedures as part of a joint service at Imperial.

Mr Aziz plays an active role in teaching both medical students and trainee ophthalmologists, covering topics such as cataract, oculoplastics and eyelid surgery, and tear duct surgery. He is also responsible for establishing training in endoscopic lacrimal surgery for ENT surgeons at Charing Cross Hospital.

Mr Aziz research interests include oculoplastics, thyroid eye disease, paediatric nasolacrimal duct obstructions and patient outcomes. He has presented his work at national and international meetings.
