Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon
Mr Emin Carapeti is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon with years of exceptional experience. He is a Member of Council of the Section of Coloproctology of the Royal Society of Medicine, a member of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland and an examiner in surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
He graduated from Guy’s Hospital and undertook his training in London and South East England. His specialist training was at St. Mark’s Hospital in London and Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. His thesis and main research was in the treatment of haemorrhoids and anal fissure at St. Mark's Hospital and he was awarded the Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in 2000. He has published widely on anorectal disorders and pilonidal sinus disease and has pioneered new surgical techniques in complex recurrent pilonidal disease and day case surgery for haemorrhoids.
In addition to his colorectal work he also has an extensive experience in the treatment of of abdominal and groin hernia both simple and complicated. He also attended The Shouldice Hernia Clinic near Toronto, Canada where he learnt about the famous Shouldice hernia repair. He is a member of The Gilmore Groin and Hernia Clinic team undertaking repair of groin disruption (Gilmore’s Groin).
Based at The London Rectal Clinic at 108 Harley Street, Mr Carapeti is committed to minimising patient anxiety and providing individually tailored treatment to suit every patient's needs. He is able to treat many colorectal conditions as day surgery cases, including haemorrhoids, pilonidal sinus, anal fissure, rectal prolapse and faecal soiling. He performs inpatient surgery for conditions such as colon and rectal cancer, diverticulitis and diverticular disease and colitis and Crohn's disease at The London Rectal Clinic's partner hospitals.
Mr Carapeti is able to treat self-referring patients, as well as those referred by their GP or medical specialist. He is happy to provide a second opinion and discussion of treatment options when a patient wishes to review a diagnosis they have received elsewhere. All medical insurers routinely cover the fees for rectal treatments and other procedures with a referral from a doctor or specialist. If surgery is indicated, a detailed estimate will be provided for the surgical fees. Inclusive packages for uninsured patients are available on request. The inclusive package fee covers the cost of surgery, anaesthesia and theatre.
Mr Carapeti's has a special interest in rectal bleeding, colonoscopy, colorectal cancer, management of fissures, haemorrhoids and pilonidal sinus disease. He is a specialist in the surgical treatment of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
