Deciding to get a hair transplant is a huge decision with many different aspects to consider, from picking the right transplant clinic to deciding when the best time to get a transplant is. A variety of different factors come into play when deciding the best time for you to get a transplant, and today we’re going to try and make that a little easier for you.
At the Harley Street Hair Clinic we’re experts in the innovative FUE hair transplant procedure. Every procedure and client is different but when the best time to get a transplant is similar for most. From the best age to get a transplant to the best time of the year to get a transplant we’ve got all the information you need.
What is a FUE hair transplant?
At the Harley Street Hair Clinic we offer the revolutionary follicular unit extraction hair transplantation method. This gives the most effective and natural looking hair transplant. The procedure is done by using individual hair follicles from the donor area of the head (usually the back or sides of the head) that are the transplanted to the recipient area.
Our FUE hair transplants are designed by our team of doctors to ensure the hair will replicate how your hair would normally grow and work to mimic that of your normal hair pattern. This method looks more natural than older strip methods of hair transplants.
Can I get a hair transplant at any age?
Hair loss can begin to happen at any age and can happen because of a variety of different causes. At a young age you can begin to lose your hair at the front, your hairline can begin to mature and your hairline will become slightly higher.
We receive a lot of questions from people aged 18-29 assuming this is a receding hairline, when in actual fact it is just a mature hairline, a natural part of growing up. A mature hairline is nothing to worry about and it does not mean you need to rush and get a hair transplant.
At the Harley Street Hair Clinic we offer advice to those that are young and enquire about a hair transplant. A hair transplant isn’t always necessary or advisable straight away and we always give our honest advice to ensure you don’t go thought with a treatment that you do not need.
There is no set age on when is the best time to get a hair transplant but in some cases you might be too young and your hair loss may not be severe enough. We advise all of our clients to contact us for a no obligation consultation so that we can work with them to decide the best course of treatment.
What time of year?
When getting a hair transplant you have to think of the healing process, we first of all advise 7-14 days off work for you to rest and for the healing so it is not advised to get a transplant during a busy work period.
After your treatment swimming is not advised for the first 14 days. If you’re planning your big summer beach holiday for the year bear this in mind. It probably isn’t a great idea to get a transplant the week before your summer holiday.
However, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go on holiday after a transplant. We advise rest and recuperation for a week after your treatment. Taking a nice relaxing break for a week would work perfectly. A winter getaway in a cottage, or a city break in the summer, what ever works best for you?
It is important to remember that we advise that you avoid direct sunlight for 14 days after your treatment. If you are thinking of getting a transplant in the sunnier months just remember to purchase a cap.
