At the Harley Street Hair Clinic we are experts in the innovative FUE hair transplant procedure. Although every FUE procedure is performed with the same technique, not one transplant is identical. When it comes to hair loss there is not a one off solution that will fit every individual, each hair transplant is unique and designed specifically for the patient.
Many of our patients are initially unaware of the importance of a good hair transplant design however the initial design of a hair transplant establishes how natural your hair transplant will look in the future and getting this right is important. It is very important to ensure your doctor has mapped out the perfect, natural-looking design for your individual requirements.
How does an FUE hair transplant work?
Follicular unit extraction (FUE) is a revolutionary method of hair transplantation and is a highly technical method that gives the most effective hair transplant. During a transplant gives the most effective hair transplant. During a transplant one of our highly skilled doctors will extract hair follicles from the donor area (typically found at the back of the head, towards the neck). A specialised extraction instrument is used to extract the follicles.
These follicles are then transferred to the recipient area on your scalp (the area of the head where the hair is thinning or bald). The follicles are implanted using a powerful stereo microscope in groups of one to four hairs to replicate how the hair would naturally grow. The hair will then begin to grow and mimic that of your normal hair pattern and look natural.
How do you decide where to take the donor hair from?
The most important thing to keep in mind when considering a hair transplant is that we can only relocate hair from one part of the body to another. We can’t create donor hair.
We take donor hair from places that are unaffected by hair loss, typically this is the sides and back of the head. We assess each client to ensure they have enough donor hair for the transplant to work, in some cases, donor hair can be used from other areas of the body but for the most natural looking transplant, hair from the head will always look better.
We understand that your hair is a finite resource, and this is why our doctors take absolute care of your hair. We safeguard every single hair in a procedure to ensure no hairs are lost, dropped or damaged. So you can be sure you’ll get the most out of your donor hair.
Will my hair transplant look natural?
At the Harley Street Hair Clinic, we understand that you want your hair transplant to look as natural as possible, and we do too. This is why we know a good transplant design is important. Our consultation process allows us to look at your hair loss and establish the best places to take donor hair from, and also assess future hair loss.
Once we have established this we can decide on how many grafts of hair you will need to create the appearance of fullness in the recipient area as well as taking any future hair loss into consideration. During the procedure, our team of expert doctors who have years of experience and are experts at blending the hair in, insert the grafts at an angle and density that matches the original hair. This will then resemble a natural and realistic hair pattern.
