Mr. Hadi Zambarakji was appointed as Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Whipps Cross University Hospital NHS Trust in 2005. Mr. Zambarakji was a fellow in Vitreoretinal surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital (2002-2004), and in Medical Retina at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School, Boston (2004-2005). He is currently College Tutor and Regional Advisor for North Thames.
His clinical interests include diseases and surgery of the retina and vitreous (retinal detachment surgery), retinal vascular disease, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration as well as small incision phakoemulsification cataract surgery. His research interests include imaging in retinal disorders, diabetic macular oedema, investigational treatments for diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration, and angiogenesis.
Mr. Zambarakji has taken an active role in research throughout his training and has continued to do so as a consultant. Mr. Zambarakji takes an active role in training young ophthalmologists and runs an active Vitreoretinal Fellowship Program.
